  1. MechWarrior 2: The Clans 
  2. Demo Disk Ver 1.0
  3. This Demo Requires a 386/486 computer with at least 4 megabytes of RAM.  
  4. In general, 610,000 bytes of conventional memory and 2+ Megabytes of
  5. extended or expanded RAM
  6.  
  7. If the Demo will not work, verify that your CONFIG.SYS file contains the 
  8. line DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS  The HIMEM.SYS file comes with DOS 5, DOS 6, 
  9. and WINDOWS  
  10. (Dr. DOS 6.0 comes with HIDOS.SYS which can be used instead of HIMEM.SYS)

  12. WARNING: Always have a working boot disk before modifying the CONFIG.SYS 
  13. or AUTOEXEC.BAT files on your hard drive

  64. ***THRUSTMASTER SYSTEMS***
  65. MechWarrior 2: The Clans fully supports the Thrustmaster FCS (Joystick),
  66. WCS and Rudder Pedals.
  67. The following controls are available on the FCS:

  69. Weapon Fire             = Main Trigger.
  70. Weapon Selection        = Upper Thumb.
  71. Track View              = Bottom Button (Pinky) and Lower Thumb.
  72. Cockpit View            = Bottom Button (Pinky) and Trigger.
  73.  
  74. The HAT on the FCS will select Left, Right, and Up views from within the 
  75. Cockpit.
  76. From Track View the Hat will move the camera view around the selected Mech.

  78. The Weapon Control system currently controls the Speed only.

  80. Rudder Pedals will control the Torso left and right

  83. ***CYBERMAN***
  84. MechWarrior 2 fully supports the Cyberman by Logitech in the following
  85. way:
  86. Left Button     = Fires selected weapon
  87. Right Button    = Change Weapon
  88. Pitch forward   = Increase Throttle
  89. Pitch Back      = Decrease Throttle
  90. Roll left       = Left View
  91. Roll Right      = Right View
  92. Z-Up            = Up View (Pull Up)
  93. Yaw left        = Turn Torso Left
  94. Yaw Right       = Turn Torso Right
  95. Z-Down          = Center Torso (Push Down)

  97. Targeting the Mech is controled by moving the Cyberman Up and Down 
  98. within the X and Y axis square.

  102. Targeting is controlled by forward and back mouse movement
  103. Left Mouse              = fire selected weapon
  104. Right Mouse button      = change weapons
  105. Center mouse button is not supported

  107. TROUBLE SHOOTING
  108.  
  109. DISTORTED DIGITAL SOUND WITH IRQ7
  110. If your sound card is using IRQ7 and you get choppy digital sound,
  111. you may have a noisy IRQ7 line. Change to another free IRQ. Noisy IRQ7
  112. lines are most common in systems with IDE/MULTI I/O cards.

  114. NO SOUND FROM THE PROAUDIO SPECTRUM
  115. Verify that the driver MVSOUND.SYS is loaded by CONFIG.SYS.  If you
  116. made a boot disk, copy the MVSOUND.SYS line from your hard drive's
  117. CONFIG.SYS to your boot disk's CONFIG.SYS.
  118.  
  119. GAME LOCKS WITH DIGITAL SOUND
  120. Check for a conflict between the sound card and another card.  Run
  121. INSTALL and disable digital sounds.  Consult the sound card manual for
  122. information on resolving IRQ, I/O, and DMA conflicts with other cards
  123. in your system.

  125. THRUSTMASTER HAT IS NOT WORKING
  126. Verify that your joystick card supports two joysticks.  Joysticks with 
  127. throttles can not be used with Y-cables or with cards that support only one joystick.  Make sure that you do not have TWO joystick cards in your
  128. machine. If your Sound Card has a joystick port, AND your Multi I/O card
  129. has a joystick port, disable the joystick port on the Multi I/O card.
